The Yoga Alive studio opened in 2008 on the Central Coast of NSW. The studio began in a living room, complete with lounge and piano: “There wasn’t much room!” laughs Vedanta, “And that lounge and piano needed to go!” By the end of that year, the entire front room was wholly dedicated to yoga.

In 2015 Vedanta decided to extend her studio in two different ways – she began holding classes in a local hall, as well as doing renovations on that front room to double it’s size. The studio now boasts air-conditioning, walls gently touched by yogic artwork, and dimmable lighting for meditation classes.

“The thing I like most about the studio, is that in its being dedicated to yoga for 10 years, the energy in the room is noticeable and powerful – you can feel the calm energy,” Vedanta explains. “One of the things that happens – when people walk in for the first time, almost without fail – is that they say, ‘Oh, this is a beautiful room!’. I’ve worked hard at establishing that, and I don’t think that it’s an entirely physical thing. I believe its because the space has been totally dedicated for yoga for all those years. You can feel it.”
